High price for what?Strengths: It is a sound card. Weakness: Poor compatibilty. Maybe it was just my system setup, but this thing didn't work very well. It couldn't handle my TV tuner being plugged into it without muting the sound. It started out sounding good right after I installed it and then it would turn normal clicks into what sounded like "pfft". I will be sticking with my onboard audio, it sounds and works much better. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Excellent audio card at a modest priceStrengths: Perfect for music, modest price and easy installation. Awesome sound. Weakness: Basic features For the music buff looking for a quality sound card delivering awesome sound this card is for you without breaking the budget. This card uses the same audio chip set used as in all of the X-Fi lines but does not have gaming capabilities and is meant for pure music. 0% of readers found this review helpful. SB X-Fi Xtreme AudioStrengths: Very easy to install, update process went smoothly. Weakness: None so far I have used creative sound cards many times before and they have never let me down. I was pleased to see that it was more geared for music / media. I did not need all the extras included for gaming. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Poor product
Strengths: Just a sound card,no more
Weakness: Not worth to be named x-fi
Despite being sold as an X-Fi card, this particular model does not use the X-Fi chipset. In fact it uses a variation of the Audigy 2 SE chipset. This is further confirmed by the fact that this card uses different drivers than the rest of the X-Fi line, and is not recognized as an X-Fi card in games. The main problem with this is you cannot uses any of the X-Fi features in games like you would expect. Try using this card in Battlefield 2142 and you will see what I mean.It is really out of my expect.Creative sound cards are good, but not this one. Creative puts this product into market is like stealing money from consumer.

I disagree. If your into gaming them Creative's X-Fi Extreme Gamer is the card for you. All of the X-Fi line uses the same audio processor as I confirmed it with their technical support and in many online venues.
This card works wonderfully without the gaming capabilities, for those folks that only want an excellent sound card for music at a modest price this card will do just fine! Creative does have a higher end X-Fi Extreme Music card as well but will cost you about $30 more adding more features. In fact I own the Extreme Music on another PC and hooked both cards up to a pair of Logitech 2.1 THX certified speakers and the sound was awesome from both cards and indistinguishable.
You need to compare apples with apples, gamers need a higher end gamers sound card and one cannot compare a Cadillac with a Chevy.
