ThermalTake TR2 430W AC Power Supply

Strengths: Completely Silent! Cable design, Cable sleeving, PCI Express Connector, SATA Connector, 24/20pin Motherboard Connector, Tons of 4pin molex connectors, and did I mention that it's really quiet!

Weakness: None.

This power supply has saved me a lot of headache. I had another brand of power supply and it wouldn't power the PCI Express video card, but this power supply did. It works great, the cables look good and have more than enough connectors even for a gamer like me. This is definitely a good power supply for the money. Buy it.

Awesome PSU for your money!

Strengths: Quiet operation, stays only warm, plenty of sleeved power cables, sata power cables, pci express power cable, 20/24 pin motherboard power cable

Weakness: Too many cables

This PSU is really awesome. Its 430w which is excellent for its price. There are two fans on this unit, one in the back for exhaust and one on the opposite side for intake. The air it blows our is fairly warm and the fans are of the low rpm kind, making the PSU very quiet. The PSU comes with sleeved power cables which help increase airflow. It also comes with a ton of different power cables, which ensures you have enough plugs to connect all your hardware. The downside to this is that since there are so much, airflow is reduced unless you can route these cables properly. Nonetheless, this PSU fits all my needs and I'm happy. You would be too if you bought it.

Quality product at a good price

Strengths: quiet, lot of plugs, dual fans, rock solid power supply

Weakness: None

This power supply can handle almost everything you can throw at it. It has connections for SATA power, 20/24 pin power and even a 6-pin PCI-E connector. It runs ultra quiet and can power everything in my system (Athlon64 3200+, 2 hard drives, 2 DVD burners & Radeon 9800 Pro video card.

The power is awesome and the fans are quiet

Strengths: The fans are very quiet, the power supply never gets very hot and the power from it is very consistant and is perfect for the money.I recomend it highly..

Weakness: none,none,and none

I own a Emachines T6003.Recently I installed a new Asus socket 939 motherboard with a Amd 64X2 4200+ dual-core processor and I'm running a 200 gb hard drive and 1 gig ram with a Plextor DVR 6xDVD+R DL burner and a EVGA 6800GT graphics card and 2 80mm fans which one I custom installed into the side panel and the power supply runs everything smoothly..

Great PSU for the Money

Strengths: Good quality, smooth performance

Weakness: A little too big for some case

Great power unit for such low price! Thermaltake is a good brand in PSU/Case, and 430w fits perfectly for my current system with Athlon64 3000+, two hard drives and one DVDRW. The PSU's cable even has covers, and with plenty of different pins, you could add up many equipments (hard drives, case fans, ....) to your computer. But this psu was too large to fit with the top case fan in my Aspire X-Dreamer Case, but other than that, low price, real quiet, real nice.

Very steady for a fair price

Strengths: Black wrapped cables, built-in 20/24 pin supply, lots of molex plugs as well as sata power connections. Dual fans as well as very quiet operation

Weakness: Too many cables that blocked air flow. Low 12-volt line amperage

It has all the connections you can imagine, from 6 pin PCI-E's to sata power. Very quiet. has a overvoltage, shorting and proection reset functions. The dual fans allow the PSU to suck some hot air from inside the case as well as suck the cold air from the top intake fan. The voltages remain very steady through load. Do not rely on mobo voltage gages, use a multi-meter for accurate readings of voltes.

Very nice power-supply.

Strengths: Very quiet. Lots of connectors.

Weakness: Didn't quite fit, but may not be the power supply manufacturer's fault.

I bought this power supply to replace a defective PSU in a Dell 8100. This power supply is much quieter than the Dell unit. So much so, that you can barely tell it's on. It doesn't seem to add any noticeable heat to make the system unstable. My only gripe is that it didn't quite snap into place. Maybe I just didn't push hard enough, or maybe this PSU is about 1-2mm longer than the standard Dell it replaced.

I also had some confusion pluggin in the main motherboard connector. I didn't know that the 24 pin connector actually split to remove the extra 4 pins so it would connect to a standard 20 pin motherboard -- Doh!

This Power Supply cannot be used with the Dell 8100. The Dell Dimension 8100 Desktop has a propriatery Power Supply with a 24 pin assignment. But also the wiring pattern is non-Standard ATX or other. It is a specially designed for Dell in co-operation with Intel. So ??? There is NO WAY to use this particular power supply with the Dell 8100, if you do you will fry your motherboard.

Great budget power supply

Strengths: Two fans; connector fits both 20-pin and 24-pin boards

Weakness: Only available in black; not ATX 2.0 compliant

Bought this power supply to replace a burned out Antec 300 watt. It can be found online for $30-$40 shipped and is a great little supply for the price. All of the cables are sheathed, which makes for a nicer finished appearance and helps with air flow.

There are 2 fans to help with cooling, but the second fan is on the front, instead of the usual placement of being on the bottom. I believe that the bottom placement is better at cooling the inside of the case and CPU in particular, but 2 fans is a definite improvement over just one.

The main power connector is 24-pin but the last 4 pins can break away to fit into a 20-pin slot if necessary for older motherboards. The install was easy; all the screw holes lined up perfect and everything powered up on the first try.

Only minor gripe is that this only seems to be available in black so if you have a beige colored case, it is a slight mismatch, but really not that noticable. It is also not rated to the newer ATX 2.0 specification like some of the more expensive supplies but it should be fine for most people, unless you are running lots of drives, or a recent high-powered video card.

Recommended.

Thermaltake Blacklisted

Strengths: It has the wiring that you would expect from an ATX 12V 2.0 power supply.

Weakness: This power supply went bad after only a few hours of use. I replaced it with a Cooler Master power supply which has been working well for weeks now.

Unless Thermaltake can make it up to me, and I don't expect that they will, I will not buy any more of their products. I do not consider them reputable. I buy a lot of products from many companies and this is the worst that I have thusfar encountered regarding customer support. A warranty is only as good as it is backed up. I've been trying to get an RMA for this power supply. In 3 weeks time I have contacted them 3 times (each time about a week apart) -- twice by phone and once by email. I left a message each time I called. I have not heard back from them even once.

it exploded,,, literally...

Strengths: worked great for 2 months and lots of features and value..

Weakness: it blew the XXXX up. literally - blue arc visible from in front of the desk. it had been carrying the light load for about 2 months.

I was terrified the board or processor or both were hit but was they were ok. I am calling thermaltake tomorrow to see what kind of service I get from their service department. I will check back and let you all know....

The way a power supply should be

Strengths: Slilent, molex connectors, serial power connector, and 20/24 pin main power connector.

Weakness: none

If you are you looking for a silent, easy to accemble power supply, then you have found it. At first when I receved the power supply then i was thinking, yeah I have one that will be for power and if and when I up grade to PCI express I will have the capaiblty ( as well as a 24 pin motherboard). When installing into my Xclio case I found it extreamly easy to connect all cables to my Intel Motherboard (20 pin). The molex connetors have a kind of bubble on both sides of the connector which when pressed, give the ability to connect to whet ever device. This makes pluging and unpluging such easier. Overall This power supply gives the power and access to anything out on the market right now to my knowelege. For the price and the convience i would recommend this power supply to anyone .

Relatively cheap power supply

Strengths: A lot of connection. Wires are netted to increase airflow. Good brand name. Alot of high quality features

Weakness: A lot of wires decreases airflow and not detachable. Cannot put more than 2 case fans because no 3 pin power adapters. Be warned it is a big jumple of wires.

I always replace stock power supply on my system because it a relatively cheap investment for a rather expensive machine which is the computer. No problems so far. I wish somehow we could detach the wires you don't need to increase your airflow, but those are more expensive power sources or one you find or wait to go on sell I guess. Bought this because I need a relatively good power supply fast to build a computer and couldn't wait. If you can wait though, go to xpbargains or benbargains to wait for sells for brand name 500 watts power supplies for sometimes as little as 10 dollars, shipping and tax not included.

Nice quality piece

Strengths: Plenty of power (430W), quiet operation, PCI express connection, good price

This product shows quality building. The wires are nicely coated, operation is fairly quiet, and it comes with a a lot of power and all possible connections one could want. The best I've seen so far.

Thermatalke TR2 W0070RUC 430W Power Supply

Strengths: Excellent looking power supply. Makes the OEM that came with my comp. case look like a piece of junk. Has all the latest fittings with spring tension type clips to the hard drives and fans connectors.

Weakness: I really don't know of any yet.

I am very pleased with this purchase of this Power supply for the money spent. I had done a check a few years ago with the OEM power supply and 400 Watts was suppose to be adequate, so 430 Watts should allow for any increases I may ever add. I like the dual fans to suck more heat of the case. It is quiet. Anyone would be happy I think with this power supply. I really wonder why some one would pay upwards of a $100 or more for other brands? What do they have this doesn't, except maybe an adjustable fan speed?
