Abit AW8-MAX Motherboard

Strengths: Too many features : Overclocking ability, Support DDR2 800 memory, Silent NorthBridge cooling, Onboard POST code for finding errors,

Weakness: Does not support Conroe. Some compatibility issue with DDR2 667 memory.

AW8-Max is one of the best 955X motherboards. It's a dream motherboard for an overclocker (but not quite gamers because it has only one PCI-E (x16) slot). It supports DDR2 800 (PC 6400) memory. My Corsair DDR2 800 memory works without any problem on this motheroard. This board has lots of 3-pin fan powers. The most downside is that it will not support Conroe(Core 2 Duo). AW9D-Max will replaces...

aw8

Strengths: price overclocking sata2 ddr2 compatibel with dual core 7.1

Weakness: a this moment, none

This is an exelent card for a gamer, but to expensive for a beginner. He can work with a dual core processor (830 intel). He has a 7.1 expert audio output. It is from abit, still one of the best !!!

OOPS! Review is for AW8D-MAX

Strengths: 975X, RAID 5, 7.1 Surround, will probably support Conroe, Guru Clock, Best 975X board on the planet!

Weakness: Can only run one RAID 5 array unlike the Intel 975X "Bad Axe" (Well. . . I had to say SOMETHING!) :)

Sorry, this review is for the AW8D-MAX, not the AW8-MAX Here it is anyway. BTW, this is a much better board anyway. The unofficial word is that this board will support Conroe (Core 2 Duo), I'll be supprised if it doesn't. This board is ultra stable with a D 960 processesor. Have not reached full overclocking potential (waiting on chilled liquid cooling setup). BTW, the board does not say MAX on...

AW8 fine after the battle

Strengths: Decent overclocking, if not into heavy gaming.

Weakness: Does not come with current BIOS updates or drivers

After going thur hoops and circles to get the bios (17) and all the new drivers current from the vendors sites, not abit except the bios, everything worked fine. Mostly self-inflicted wounds in getting everything to work. Satisfied now and will probably buy another AW8 since I now know which way to jump the barriers.

Abit AW8-MAX Motherboard: No doubt is a great motherboard!

Strengths: Intelligence board layout design, OTES NorthBridge cooling, onboard POST code, advance build in RealTek HD Audio making this board very impressive for the price!

Weakness: Main weekness is it required BIOS update if we use latest Intel Duo processor. 1 PCI-E slot only

Very satisfied with this board after BIOS update. It works just great without any problems. No regret choosing ABIT instead of ASUS P5WD2 Premium. Highly recommended if you are tied in your budget.
